i bought a new hp notebook with windows 7 ultimate and downloaded xp mode from microsoft. that took 90 minutes. it worked okay the first time, except for my not knowing how to get it to recognize my flash drive. the next day, i started up the pc again and later clicked for xp mode. this little window pops up and tells you it is opening virtual pc or something. you have to wait three or four minutes for this to activate the xp mode, much longer than i would prefer to wait. then the third, fourth, fifth, sixth and seventh attempts that i made to open xp mode all failed. it would give me an error message, "could not enable the integration features" then suggests i try again or continue without these features. why should i continue without the features, and what features will be i be sacrificing? that doesn't make sense. i called microsoft and asked them to help me. they opened a case and did their best to get xp mode to work, but were unable to do so. thus i returned the computer to hp for a refund. i ordered another notebook that has windows 7 32-bit. i think this will be the answer to being able to use my old software. xp mode is not worth it.

i downloaded the malicious software removal tool on friday and it ran for over 20 hours on saturday. it kept displaying file names that began with "client", a bunch of letters and numbers and ended in".xml". after 20 hours i hard booted the pc as it seemed it would never stop. i can't find those files anywhere on my pc. the symptoms of malware are that my hard drive constantly is working. task manager says i have 96% t0 98% of the system available. any ideas here?

utorrent has become an arrogant bittorrent client and doesnt deliver a clean setup in the first place and now whith utp, that does it all. i will never accept to run a crippled and banned torrent clientversion and let me be happy with 1.83 and look on further what will come in its place or utp integrates ad all private trackers and maybe i will rate it a bit higher and i am back on track. for now, very dissepointed to see utorrent gets ruined by its own arrogancy.for further i stop the discussion cause you are trying to be the wiseguy and not let me have my opinion with my low rating for now, you do not understand that i like 1.83 ( except for ask toolbar but it can be unchecked during setup ) and hate 2.xx cause of the problems it caused me.

foxit reader is not always 100% compatible with advnaced pdf features like interactive forms and application-launching, embedded links. for joe pc user it might be fine for businesses reader is an absolute must. 9.x is a lot faster than 8 and is close to the speed of foxit even with the "speedlauncher" disabled.

i had heard some of the features coming into office 2013, but was just sort of stunned when i actually got it.it would not install on my xp machine at all (bummer). but i'm replacing that last xp machine with a new win 7 pro 64 bit one soon, but i wonder how many corporations would want to abandon that xp infrastructure just yet. i think they still have downgrade rights to xp till 2020 or something like that.anyway, the interface changes confused me very much. but to be fair, i have never gotten the hang of the ribbon changes anyway.the skydrive thing kind of freaked me out. i want everything stored locally. nothing on the web. i don't want to expose my stuff to possible scrutiny or have to fit my content under a "terms of use" for the skydrive. i'm not a paranoid guy, but as you can see with megaupload and some of the hammers being put down on cyber-lockers, when they can scan the contents of these cloud options looking for content / key words, it's just a recipe for trouble.but what it came down to was that i don't think i could be productive on that new office 2013 without a lot of retraining. personally done on my own or paid for by a company. i'm a keyboard centric guy, and i can get things done fast with a normal menu system. not even close to that with win 8 or office 13 and probably not for a long time, if ever.so, there's libreoffice and openoffice (apache has it now) and for me, that's what i'm going to focus on. unless i'm forced to use that product because a client demands it, i hope to never opt for another microsoft office suite for the rest of my pre-retirement life.i just don't see the benefit of following where they want to lead me. myself and many of the places i have worked for / contracted with got burned badly by the whole frontpage debacle, and i don't feel like i want to let them stab me in the back as a customer again.

usage idea: you're in a hotel room and your laptop has a wired connection to the internet, but want to share that connection with another laptop, smartphone, ipod, wifi camera etc, or:you have a spare computer in your office and would like to set up a wifi network for you, or visitors to be able to use, or.maybe you just realise that whilst you pay for internet, you actually use very little and therefore are kind and generous enough to let people use your connection when you are not. either way, great idea, nice app
